BOTULAX 200UI is a peripheral muscle relaxant that contains purified botulinum toxin type A (combined with haemagglutinin) and sodium chloride (excipient). Its mechanism of action is based on the ability of botulinum toxin type A to block the transmission of nerve impulses. When administered intramuscularly, the toxin disrupts the synthesis of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter essential for neuromuscular conduction, leading to temporary paralysis of facial muscles. This "freezing" effect helps relax muscles and smooth wrinkles.
